For our next big step in the classroom, I'd like to expand student choice by providing flexible seating opportunities! Students do not stay focused sitting in a hard chair for 83 minutes and this what we currently have... 30 hard top chairs and 15 regular height tables. From high-top collaborative tables, to individual rolling workstations, to opting for just a more comfortable seat at a traditional table, help give my students THAT choice in where they feel they will learn best! Whether working on a hands-on activity, engineering project, online simulation, research, modeling, (the list goes on), students can choose to stand or sit at a high table or rolling workstation, or sit on a stable balance ball for improved posture, comfort, and focus. If students feel comfortable, then they can focus on the task at hand and that is when their best effort will come forth.
