Literature is a powerful tool that can be used to help students with autism understand emotions. My students need social-emotional skills to be explicitly taught to them. My students learn how to recognize these emotions through social stories, social narratives, and reading books about emotions. The books donated will be used to help my students learn about emotions through a character's perspective. After reading the book, we will use their personal experiences to describe their emotions. Students will learn strategies they can use every day to recognize feelings of frustration and anxiety.
