Many students with Autism need a safe space to engage with their various senses. This engagement grants access to calmness and relaxation. In order for students to learn, they have to feel safe and calm. This sensory space creation will increase access for our students to academic and functional skills and self-determination. Lights are used in order to initiate our eye reflex building eye engagement. The lights are rhythmic allowing students to predict their course/movements as well as feel calm and soothed. The comfortable seating including mats and rugs generates a welcoming space to our students. It invites them to use this space. Hand fidgets allows bodies to be in motion, build muscle, give control and output of energy.
