Flexible seating such as exercise balls, bean bags, and scoop seating will add to the climate and instruction of the classroom. This alternative seating will replace all of the chairs in my classroom and allow the students to sit comfortably with intent. If and when my students see the alternative for chairs, they will be excited about coming to class. The morale will increase from the beginning. In addition, this helps those students that are diagnosed with ADHD. The majority of my students had to stand while doing their work this past year because they could not sit still after 5 minutes. It is difficult for those students. I was one of those students, so I understand. With that being said, we do brain breaks; however, if I could use a couple of those brain breaks for instructional time because the flexible seating allows them to cope with the fidgeting, that would be amazing! Instructional time is important more so now than before. With flexible seating, I know I can get some of that time back.
