My students are a spectacular, hard-working, fun-loving, culturally and academically diverse group of kids. What's so exciting this year is that I'm looping them. (I'm moving to 5th grade with my former 4th graders! Yay!) I can't wait to help them continue to develop their growth mindset, deepen their knowledge base, foster empathy skills, all while supporting and motivating one another. I've had former students come back and visit, telling me one of their favorite memories of being in my room was that it felt like a family. The classroom is our "home" away from home. This year, I want to physically transform it. In order for students to develop into independent thinkers and learners, options are important. Choosing where to sit, with whom to work with in a group impact quality of work. So, to make the classroom environment more inviting and to foster good decision making, my room needs a makeover.
