My students are 125 eager and hardworking 6th, 7th, and 8th graders studying math and science. They attend a diverse charter school in an urban Pennsylvania city. 50% are living at or below the poverty line, so parents cannot all afford to purchase the calculators needed to support their children's education. The students range in ability and development, and include students with special needs, students who are below grade level, and students who are gifted.
