Research supports movement in learning in order to increase both retention and engagement in students. This project will allow for students to have the flexibility and freedom to move about the class as they engage with material via gallery walks, world cafes, jigsaws, Socratic circles, etc. Additionally, this clipboard doubles as a white erase board allowing for quick checks in understanding and engaging interactive response activities. According to the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, "When we keep students active, we keep their energy levels up and provide their brains with the oxygen-rich blood needed for highest performance. Teachers who insist that students remain seated during the entire class period are not promoting optimal conditions for learning. Some of the smartest things teachers can do are the simplest." By incorporating more movement in my classes, my hope and desire is that student performance and productivity will increase. Please help my students as they are deserving of every opportunity that can be given for success.
