I have a love of books! I instill the same passion for books in my students.
Learning in today's world can be a challenge, and I want my students to have access to a wide variety of chapter books and texts in our classroom. Even before COVID-19 hit, my students primarily used school texts and my own classroom library for their reading choices both at home and in the classroom. Over the last 17 years, I have collected and grown a large classroom library, but I unfortunately don't get all backs back that I allow students to use. Books don't last forever either.
For this reason, I am wanting to provide each student with their very own copy of a second survival story, "Escaping the Giant Wave." This way, they can still benefit from reading along with a second natural disaster story. I highly believe that listening to read-alouds promotes reading success.
