All of these books will help foster a love for reading for my students because they are stories they can relate to. For example, the book "The Hate You Give" shares the story of a African American young female who lives in a poor neighborhood."The House on Mango Street" shares vignettes from the perspective of a Latina girl who desires to better her life. My students need to see that reading is enjoyable and a new classroom library filled with relatable stories can do just that. The classroom library books can also provide resources to my students that must participate in the semester book talk project. The book talk project will require students to independently read at the minimum 250 pages and discuss the literary elements of the book they chose.
