Art Education is essential to ones growth and development. Students need to have an outlet to express themselves and what better way to do this than by creating art. Our school is located in such an artistic and cultural community. Unfortunately there is no visual arts program at the elementary or secondary level school in our town. Funding this project will help us start up our very own Art Club, where students will learn to use a variety of media and processes. Students will be using the oil pastels to create Van Gogh inspired landscapes and we will be learning various watercolor techniques so the Prang Watercolor Class Set will be highly appreciated. These supplies will go a long way and will be used to brighten our school and fill the halls with the artistic expression it deserves. We will be traveling the globe, learning about different countries as we create artwork inspired by different cultures. We will use markers to create artwork inspired by Henna designs and Hamsa Hands from the Middle East. We will use the tissue paper and construction paper for mixed media projects such as stained glass windows. Since the majority of our students are Native American, we will be exploring various tribes and their art and using the yarn to learn about and create our own weaving and dreamcatcher. We are all very excited to learn about ceramics and create our own clay pieces. Unfortunately we do not have access to a kiln but the kiddos will be just as excited to paint their pieces with the tempera paint. My goal is to introduce these students to different media and processes because they have never truly experienced art before. This donation will allow them an opportunity to rise up and unleash their artistic abilities.
