With a comfortable space and books that students can relate to, I'd like our classroom library to fill the room with warmth and a sense of comfort within the students' 8 hour school day. All of the books were chosen with the diverse student body in mind. Since classrooms are unable to have flexible seating I would like to create an area where students can read quietly and sit comfortably while using their imagination to turn the books into life. Students at CCSL greatly enjoy reading and respect the few books we have in our new school library but, they need more. I'd like to provide enough books to keep in rotation for each reading level and student. I have received a few used books as donations and have already purchased used books from libraries, Goodwill and other used book stores. The purpose of the items on this list are to make sure those books have a home and that my students have everything they need to succeed. My school does not provide color printing and I'd like to print classroom photos, projects for holidays where the students will be creating colorful and personal cards for loved ones, and to make sure that everything hanging in the classroom is full of color and reflects the personality of each student. The 3-cube storage bench will be used for flexible seating in the classroom library. Students deserve to have a comfortable space to read and not just the option of their desk or the floor area by the books. The magazine holders will be used to create private, individual homes for each student's A.R. books so that they can have easy access to books that will develop their reading level level.
