The Feelings Buddies Self-Regulation Toolkit contains a variety of materials that will allow me to specifically teach different social-emotional skills to my friends in pre-k. The Shubert Books and puppet will allow me to teach my students to build character through conflict. In the each of the books, Shubert demonstrates helpful ways to solve a variety of problems. Both of these materials are part of Conscious Discipline, which is our school's social-emotional framework. These materials are going to be a positive addition to our pre-k classroom.
The philosophy of Conscious Discipline and the materials listed here is to teach young children how to identify their emotions, how to self-regulate, and then find a solution to the problem they are facing. The kit materials provided will be used to help my students physically practice identifying their emotions and breathing with the specific emotional feeling buddy. The students can also discuss their feelings with the feeling buddy they are using. The books in the kit also help to teach children how to use their "Big Voice" in a conflict, how to see the best in others, and how to handle big emotions instead of ranting and raving.
