Students currently use very small glass thermometers, which are very old and only go up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Students are needing a way to check temperatures of various objects including solid objects when we work on our unit about the sunlight heating the Earth's surface unevenly. Students can use infrared thermometers quickly and safely to check temperatures of liquids AND solids. Students will be able to heat up liquids in class using the two scientific hotplates since we only have cold water in our lab. This will be beneficial to some of the labs which require hot water, or heating of various objects such as our rock cycle lab.
