It is essential for students to solve math problems that are real-world, engaging problems. Problems that make them think and are open ended. They require justification and can be solved many ways. I want to use these materials to give my student the chance to show what they are thinking and present their ideas to the class. These poster papers are ideal for displaying on the wall and are large enough to provide enough space for student work, thoughts, ideas. The core of the math standards is be ing an effective problem solver. I also want to use these to have "Chalk Talks," silent discussions students have on paper where they have to use their words to say what they think. The posters are ideal size, and the marker will allow each person to have their own, individualized color. Even though the chats are silents, each student still has an individual voice, and it is easier for me to see participation from everyone.
