My students are becoming more tech savvy everyday. Ipads are a great resource for special education students. Some of my students have grown in language skills using Ipads. There are programs that will assist students with their individual communication needs. Students can use the Ipads for letter sounds, letter recognition, reading comprehension, sight words, and even more individualized instruction based on their needs. Students who have difficulty with muscular hand strength are able to use an Ipad and not reach their frustration levels as quickly. I have students who are able to speak into an Ipad and write sentences. I also have students who are able to use pictures cues to communicate. They are able to complete work independently with the use of individualized apps directed towards their personal educational needs. I believe Ipads can help inspire independence in SPED learners.
