One of my classroom goals for this year is to create a warm and inviting place for students to look forward to coming each day! What better place to center this focus on other than a classroom library?! I would love to provide my students with two comfy Big Joe bean bag chairs to cuddle up in! I also would love to have enough storage bins to organize my library books in the easiest and most beneficial use for my first graders. Feeling loved and comfortable in a classroom sets the tone for students' educational and personal growth. Another engagement piece that I would like to implement to make reading time in the classroom more exciting is "reader's glasses" and flashlights! Students will put these glasses on when we read our weekly stories as a whole group. Flashlights will be used for special events, in which students will read in the dark with their flash lights. Having a rolling cart of drawers to store these reading manipulatives and other classroom tools in will allow them to be easy to use and easy to find for me and my students! Giving students the opportunity to stay engaged will happen through different learning spaces. Whether we are learning at our desks, on the carpet as a group, or around the room, clipboards will help students keep their work together and easier to mobilize around the room! By providing these resources to my future first graders, you will give them the opportunity to experience a FUN learning community! For the students who already love school, these items will enrich the joy that they find through their education. For the students who struggle to find motivation for school, these items will give them incentives and something unique to boost their interest.
