My students need a new colorful classroom rug to match their colorful personalities. My classroom is a multi grade level classroom, my students are in the same classroom for 2-3 years. With that, my students have had the same brown rug (for several years, prior to me coming to this school) with no shapes, colors, numbers, etc. to facilitate in their learning. We use our carpet area daily, for example, during morning meeting, whole group instruction, social skills group, closing circle, as a flexible seating option, and so much more! My students deserve a fun and colorful rug that is comfortable and can help foster positive conversations with one another, as well as take part in learning activities using the different shapes and colors on the rug. Providing a new rug for my students would allow them to participate in a variety of fun learning activities that would help them grow as learners.
