My students write daily to produce creative journal entries, persuasive and informative essays, responses to literature, as well as interest based research projects. Many of these are student driven and they work at their own pace. Chromebooks help allow the students to continue their work without long wait time for technology. Chromebooks that are available daily will allow the students to practice skills necessary to advance their learning, such as research, organization, and creativity. Our school has google accounts and I have taught my students to use the Google platform. They use the apps such as Google Docs and Google slides for their own communication needs as well as assignments within the curriculum. When I look at student work during the drafting stage, I will often see suggestions from other students that they have shared the work with for peer editing. My students also turn in assignments using Google which means we use less paper and our communication about the assignments is faster. In addition, the daily use of Chromebooks will help to prepare my students with skills they need to succeed on the tests required by the state, for college, career, and life beyond school.
