The stand up desk, the bean bag chair and the 3 lap desks will make such a difference in my classroom. I have been working toward making my classroom more kinesthetically designed, in order to create genuine student engagement. Research has shown dramatic increases in concentration, according to Fast Company (2015), and students become more attentive when using a standing desk. Our class time is filled with projects, experiments, and hands-on lessons everyday. Fifth grade students need to move around and find comfortable places to work and collaborate. Offering a variety of work spaces increases focus and engagement. Sitting in a cramped desk can be a distraction and standing at a regular desk too long can be uncomfortable for my growing fifth graders! The comfort of the bean bag chair will help to minimize fidgeting and distracting behaviors for some students. The ease of moving the bean bag chair will make forming collaborative groups quick and easy. Thank you so much for considering our project.
