I just wrapped up my first year of teaching. My kinders taught me so much about not only myself, but what kinders really need to thrive and learn and what I can do to best help them learn.
So this year, I am taking all of that newfound knowledge and putting it to good use by giving next years kiddos some awesome materials to create even more awesome learning experiences and opportunities!
All of these materials will impact my students daily and help them to learn and grow, helping them become the best they can be. These materials will help give them the opportunities to better themselves as learners that they may not get outside of our classroom walls.
We currently do not have a carpet large enough for our morning meeting space, calendar, or a proper easel for our chart paper; this tends to take away from our morning meeting. Having these materials will help to make our morning meeting as beneficial as possible. Our school does not have a library currently; for most of our students, the only literacy they will come across is in our room. So these books will help to give them expose to a variety of texts and literature. The rekenreks and whiteboards will help the students be active members of our number talks during our math time, as well as other discussions of our day.
I also plan on implementing some flex seating during certain portions of our day. The clipboards and totes (which will be used for their book bags) will allow the students to move and work in various spaces of our room.
Kindergarten can get pretty rambunctious at when we are learning. The wireless doorbell will help to grab their attention when it is time to move on.
