My Students: I teach in a K-3 school with a population of 580 students with 35 teacher units. We have approximately 40% of our student population on free or reduced lunch. Due to cutbacks and pro-ration our funding has been cut severely. The BP oil spill has had a negative affect on the economy of our community and families. Our schools are funded through our tax dollars which have been drastically reduced due to the decline of tourism and local spending in our county. This has been an additional shock to our schools budget. We are often looking for creative ways to get funding to continue providing our students with a research based and data driven education. Funding of this project will bring a level of dynamics to my classroom that would stimulate student learning to the highest level.
