Please help my classroom receive new tables. My dream is to transform education for my students. My school is 93% low socioeconomic and for a lot of these students, education is going to be their only option out of their current situation. I recently attended a professional development at the Ron Clark Academy that was completely geared towards changing the culture of your school and making kids excited about learning again. The Ron Clark Academy has a set of 55 Essentials that every teacher is expected to uphold and every student is expected to follow. Through these high expectations and consistency students are successful. I want to bring this to life in not only my classroom, but within my entire school. My dream is for my students to wake up in the morning excited that they get to go to school each day and to understand the value of their education. These new tables will replace the broken and mismatched desks that the school doesn’t have the money to fund. These desks will also allow for a more interactive classroom environment, mirroring that of Ron Clark’s classroom. In my two day intense training that focused on strategies for effective classroom discipline, integrating music into the classroom, increasing student engagement through higher order questioning, teaching creatively while achieving high standardized tests, implementing games that promote student engagement, promoting academic rigor while meeting the needs of all learners, and creating a climate and culture that promotes student success, tables were part of the foundation in the classrooms. These tables will allow group work in my classroom that isn’t achievable through regular, broken desks. Please help get my students excited about being at school again.
