Wired computer mice will help my students manage, edit, and draft documents for writing on their Chromebooks. They often times avoid highlighting, commenting, or even revising their writing because "it's too hard to click." This is an easy way to get them more interactive with a Google Doc or a peer's Google Doc to help improve their writing! Basic spiral notebooks are the best tool for the writing process. My students discover the basics of sentence variety, drafting, and editing while using paper and pencil. These are part of a semester-long writer's notebook that helps them write reflectively and strongly. With these tools, my students can move past the lame excuses of why their writing isn't improving and help them see the value in engaging in every step of the writing process! This will help them become better writers for the future and give them the tools to use both traditional methods and technology to write well.
