My classroom is currently all tile floor. I love to let the students work around the room so they aren't stuck in their chairs all day, but the floor is so uncomfortable they usually just stay at their seats. I would love for them to have a large carpet to spread out on and pillows to either sit on or lean on. Research shows that students learn better when they are able to move around and don't just stay in one place. The carpet and pillows will give my students a cozy place to read, a chance to find a quiet place around the room to work, or a comfortable place to collaborate on projects and discussions with their peers.
