Flexible seating allows students of all ability levels to be comfortable and to focus more on learning. All of my students have different sensory needs for seating so having a variety will help make sure their individual needs are being met. Some students need some bounce, others need sides due to poor core strength and others like to stand. In addition, I have students in kindergarten working along side of fifth graders so there are obvious height and weight difference that plays a factor in needing a variety of seating options. I have noticed differences in attention span and focus for my students when they are in seating that is tailored to their sensory needs. They are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at a traditional desk or table. The educubes and balance ball chairs would help my students for the many years they are in my program and would benefit students for years to come.
