Young and advanced readers often need language clarification. Vocabulary development is an important component in literacy development. Reference to a guidebook, such as a dictionary, is a skill that might have become overlooked due to advancements and access to technology. With these dictionaries, my students will continue to practice how to look for and find the meaning of a word in a dictionary. These personal lap boards will facilitate language acquisition by giving the students a tool with which to practice and use the word/s under study. With these lap boards students will be able to write the word, provide its syllabication pattern, read it, and use the word in correct context.
