This project is to help get our classroom library started. Research shows that a classroom library should have at least 1,000 books in order to foster children's literacy development. First grade is one of the most important years for literacy development which means a sufficient classroom library is even more important. Since this was my first year (well half year) teaching, I have yet to build up a lot of books for my library. The books that I do have are a little too high since I spent my first few months in third grade. My goal is to give them enough books from different levels and areas of interest to help them develop a love of reading. The books in this project cover different reading levels and interest levels.
