The creation of a Literacy Nook will produce an environment that is inviting to high school-age students to help them to relax and participate in more reading. Students have shown less interest in reading in the last two years and I would like to help change that. In the light of Covid-19, there has been a significant drop in literacy rates as well as an increase in stress-related mental illnesses among teenagers. Providing an environment for the students to be able to relax, while still learning is my goal. The Literacy Nook is intended for encouraging more independent reading, thus helping to improve literacy rates.

About my class
