In preparation for HS students need to understand how to critique and deconstruct writing. Having a conference table gives the students a more personal space to interact with both peers and staff. It allows for student led instruction, as well as, small group instruction. It gives students the opportunity to strengthen writing skills, while also taking part in accountable talk. Having a smaller, contained area will also help shy, self-conscious children be able to participate in discussions. Leadership roles such as peer-editing and student driven instruction can flourish in a smaller, contained area without students having to deal with other classroom challenges.
