My students are 2nd grade English Language Learners in a high needs, Title I elementary school in New York City, where approximately 95% of the students receive or qualify for free-or-reduced priced lunch and live below the poverty line. They have diverse English proficiency levels. They are active, smart, and independent. Also, they are extremely hard workers and willing to push themselves as much as they can to become fluent English readers.
