As children get older, they become less and less interested in reading picture books. Picture books have a lot of benefits to students in upper grade levels still. That is why this project includes increasing my collection of picture books in my classroom library. My desire is to bring the love of picture books back into my fourth and fifth graders. These books will be placed in our class library for students to access at their leisure. Additionally, many of these titles will be used as mentor texts for my lessons. Many of the books I chose will be read during the first week of school to help them transition in our classroom community. Other titles will used in our genre studies or for practicing reading skills.
