Research has shown the providing flex seating for students, especially those with special and behavioral needs allows students to focus better, be more successful in learning, and provides student choice. By using items such as exercise balls with bases, scoop rockers, and wooble chairs my students will be able to utilize opportunities for movement, allow for small group collaboration in more relaxed settings, and stay engaged in independent and group work. I plan on providing a variety of flexible seating opportunities that will allow students to find the seat that best helps them to focus and be successful in the classroom. Items such as portable lap seats and lap desks will allow students to move around the room to find quiet areas to work on independent work, while still allowing them the opportunity to participate in the flexible seating. My hope is that will the variety of seating I will be providing I will be able to aide all students in finding a way they learn best!
