Over the past 18 years of teaching special needs students, I have observed how sensory breaks can enhance the learning for ALL students. This will help with the students ability to learn and function in the classroom. In class, sensory tools support participation, engagement, and interactions that promote skill development and learning. By creating a sensory-informed classroom, students will benefit from inclusion, acceptance, and differentiation no matter what the students' needs are! Promoting overall health in every child begins with supporting healthy sensory processing. The sensory bubble tube would provide sensory stimulation from the LED light bubbles and the moving fish as the pump hums gently. The play-learn fiber optic lamp will provide a mood regulation effect. Incorporating bean bag chairs and a sound machine into our sensory corner would make it a comfortable and relaxing place to be. Receiving these materials would promote regulation, improve focus, increase participation, and decrease behaviors. What would be better than encouraging a student to be able to self regulate their bodies within their classroom?
