Children in our classroom are guided to be bold, compassionate, and critical thinkers about the universe of ideas. Together we discover that learning is about more than receiving a grade or adulation. Learning challenges and empowers who we are, as well as molds our understandings of a changing world. Students in our classroom are taught to welcome challenges, and to see failures through the lens of a growth mindset. One of the matras of our classroom is that "You are more". We encourage students to be compassionate and to view themselves and one another as more than... a test score. the number of friends you have. the size of your home. a skin color. the clothes you wear. your athletic abilities. Next year, I get the opportunity to teach reading and writing to approximately sixty fifth graders. Thank you for being partners with us in our learning and growth!
