In addition to reading poetry and works of fiction in our intervention class, we interact with factual information texts, such as newspapers and assigned subject texts. When we read about hot-topic geographic region in the news, we can "visit" that region with our Google Expeditions equipment. When students are studying a biome in environmental science or a specific place or event in a history class, we read supportive texts together to assist with better comprehension and literacy growth. Beyond the written words, our visual learners will gain a better and more lasting understanding of those facts when we can explore and interact on virtual tours. In addition, the students themselves can act as the "tour guides" and read aloud the guide notes for the other students on the tour. I am excited to see how far they can go!
