Once a week, we have a school-wide Stop and Read class period. The majority of my students, however, do not own books to bring to school and avoid borrowing books from the media center in fear of losing them and having to pay a fine. I hate to see this wonderful opportunity to read go to waste due to lack of supplies. Having books in my classroom would engage my students in the exciting world of reading, enhance their vocabulary, and assist in teaching them the life-long beneficial habit of reading.

About my class
