My classroom is lacking several key items, but most notably my classroom is needing a document camera. The classroom already has a Smart Board in place, but a doc cam is needed to take full advantage of it. The size of my classroom necessitates a doc cam to ensure that even the students who are sitting at the very back of the classroom can view all instruction that is taking place. The classroom document camera is an amazing tool that will allow my students to have a more dynamic and interactive classroom experience. Regardless of the subject that I will be teaching, this tool will allow me make the most out of any lesson plan by allowing me to move past the whiteboard and into the world of 3-dimensional shapes. Most importantly, the document camera will allow students from all over my classroom to have maximum visibility, no matter what I am trying to show them. The most exciting aspect of using a document camera in the classroom is the extra dimension that it will bring to my presentation. In addition to showing written materials to my classroom, I will be able to display 3-dimensional objects as well. EXAMPLES- Science- students can see me dissect a frog that is displayed so that all of the class can easily see. Or, I could show the difference between beetles and butterflies in a unique, new way. Math- I will be able to use the document camera to add a 3D twist to the complicated world of pyramids, cones and cylinders. Geology- I can show up-close and personal different types and textures of rocks. Art- Students can watch and see more clearly techniques on molding clay and making perfect brush strokes. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!
