In the last 5 years, students have been exposed to a variety of art skills, techniques, and materials. They love using new materials but it often becomes expensive trying to maintain a constant supply consumable materials such as paint, drawing materials, and clay. I want to give students more choice in the classroom to help foster their creativity and problem-solving skills. I want them to experience different ways to use technology, like with the 3D pens, or even a printer. Using watercolor pencils instead of regular colored pencils incorporates science...see what happens when you apply a wet paintbrush to the colored area! More variety of materials = more options to create! It is my goal to incorporate STEAM into my classroom to show them how art and design are essential in bringing ideas to life and preparing for the 21st-century workforce.
