For the 2018-2019 school year, I was asked to loop with the same group of students from 2nd to 3rd grade. I am so excited for the opportunity to continue the work we started this year and to foster the relationships in our classroom community. The challenge that comes with this, however, is ensuring the classroom environment and materials are fresh and engaging for the new year. My students LOVE reading - they cheer every time I announce read aloud, independent reading or reading rotations. As such, we have worked through much of my already lacking classroom library that is currently geared towards primary grades. The books I selected will help to build a 3rd-grade library that will keep their interests peaked, allow us to engage in meaningful texts, and help me to address science and social studies content through literature. With new books, I can open the doors to new worlds for my students.
