Majority of students and even adults groan when they hear the word math. My mission is to make math the good guy again and change the way students think about it. I will do this by making math come to life with group engagement, physical activity, and creative expression. The first step to doing this is giving the students the tools they need for success. Our classroom will be a place where everyone feels equal and capable no matter what they carry on their backs to school. The first goal is to have interactive binders for each student to be able to create and express their math knowledge in an organized way, that can be used a self-created resource for the school year and beyond. Creating is one of the top tiers of learning, and organization is an essential life skill, so the entire process of creating interactive binders will be enriching for the students. Secondly, we need flexible seating options that allow students to work where they are comfortable and able to do their best work. Stability ball chairs will be especially beneficial for those students with ADHD or just a little bit of extra energy to channel that energy productive way and create more focus. Finally, basic supplies for the classroom and students are essential to a smooth running classroom. A well organized and stocked classroom will create a better classroom atmosphere and help everyone achieve the most out of their school year.
