The supplies I am requesting are to be able to create various spaces and flexible seating within my classroom so all of students can access their learning at their level and level of need. As I provide instruction to my students, I am constantly having to stop and redirect behaviors due to sensory concerns, lack of body awareness and levels of activity.
Not all students learn the same way and their DIFFERENT needs are often overlooked!
I would LOVE to put the balance ball chairs around a table for students to choose and be able to access just like a math tool they might need. These chairs can roll so they can be moved to the carpet area during mini-lessons as well. The wobble cushions can be used by any student who is feeling unsettled and needs the constant movement and stimulation that 6th graders often seek. They can be transferred easily to the carpets for lessons, lunch time or even assemblies. Lastly, I would love to provide EACH student that comes though my classroom a chance to be able to move and get their energy out in a quiet an productive way by utilizing the chair bands at each desk. This will give my students the opportunity to receive sensory feedback without disturbing others.
I believe in giving students various tools to help them succeed to the best of their ability. I want to create EQUITY in my classroom by providing students a place to sit and learn while receiving sensory or movement feedback so they can access their learning at a higher potential.
