The variety of materials selected will make a difference in my students' learning in various ways. The selected materials range in ability levels-from helping students recognize letters, to supporting emerging readers practice blends and digraphs. My students' abilities and individual needs differ, so there is something for every child. In addition, most of the materials selected have sensory features-bright colors, sounds and a firm feel. These features would engage my students because the features add fun to learning. Lastly, my students are struggling learners and have difficulty with traditional lecture-style instruction. Many have attention difficulties and serious cognitive deficits that make learning a challenge. What works for them is learning through games. I think for these reasons, my students will benefit a great deal from the selected materials.
