The materials in this project will greatly enhance my students literacy experience and ultimately be more engaging and beneficial. Headphones will allow my students to listen to other read texts through interactive programs. Currently, while my students are reading, their enthusiasm fills as the room, as do their voices. First graders need to hear their own voices while reading to get a sense of words, texts, and books. This is difficult to do in a small classroom with 29 enthusiastic voices. The microphones attached to the headphones will allow the students to record their own voice and play it back. It is extremely powerful for students to hear a recording of themselves reading a book, as authors do. The students can also share with their peers. Their saved recordings also serve admin great data points to show their literacy and oracy progression across a period of time. The materials will ensure that all students have the ability to engage in interactive reading.
