Flexible seating gives students options and allows them to take ownership of their learning. Students currently get to choose their seat during independent work times. Students absolutely LOVE getting to pick their own spot to work. They are inclined to work harder and more focused than they ever would at their desk. Students choose spots like under the table, on the rugs, on a beanbag, and in comfortable chairs. However, most of these options do not lend themselves well to writing which is why I am asking for better options for students who would like to work on the floor which they love. Students are more engaged with flexible seating and technology. More classroom technology will also improve our classroom during small group instruction and group projects. During reading small groups, students will be able to pull up online books that we can read together, which gives us the ability to read thousands of other books, we would be unable to gain access to without the technology. With technology, our devices can also read books aloud to students who are still learning to read fluently, and it allows them to listens to books that are beyond their reading level but still interest them. Technology gives students endless opportunities they may not have otherwise.
