My students use informational text specifically in the classroom and I am always making photocopies for them to read, annotate, and take a position in written responses. I incorporate newspapers, periodicals, textbooks, pdf's, etc., in order to supply them with multiple forms of informational media. By providing my students with a Kindle Fire, they can assess this information, annotate on the Kindle itself, save, and print the portions they will be using for their constructed written response, per assignment. It would also save me time (and money) so I wouldn't need to print out large portions of text. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. With a Kindle Fire, as opposed to an iPad/laptop, students will be able to simply focus on the academic material, without advertisements. In this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
