By using the appropriate materials, such as Battleship Gray Linoleum, traditional Japanese Masa or rice paper, oil based inks, and sharpened carving tools, my students will gain a better hands-on understanding of the unique reductive relief print process. With traditional artist grade Masa paper and Akua printing ink the printmaking process will become a more authentic and unique experience. After learning the history of the relief process and watching the traditional printmaking process used by Pablo Picasso. The students will be able to connect and gain deeper understanding by using the same materials to create their own reductive color prints.
