STEM activities - short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math - help to foster critical and creative thinking skills in young learners through innovative opportunities to build and explore. Providing students with a variety of materials to participate in these creative thinking opportunities is essential. Opportunities to manipulate and operate an array of coding or building devices will enhance learning and equip students with a broader spectrum of skills. I have asked for a few devices to help young students learn the foundational skills of coding- such as Sphero and Botley - which will guide students through critical thinking and problem-solving. I have also asked for several new building materials - such as Shapemags, LEGO Bricks, Joinks, and Crazy Forts - to help students engineer and construct new designs.
