Desk maps provide opportunities to investigation and practice. They will be used for partner work (practice) and individual work for skills practice. They also provide an on the spot reference to accompany lecture/discussion of thematic concepts like migration and trade. They will be used as needed and stored in my supply cabinet when not being used. I have had these desk maps at another campus that I worked for and can attest to their usefulness and effectiveness. Desk maps are an essential tool for teaching world geography. A tangible and legible reference to places and spaces of the world are paramount to students making the connections and retaining the information. Repeated use helps students with the mental mapping of the spatial geography of the world.
