What I hope to do is parlay my students' passion for language into a medium where they can express their thinking and at the same time build effective 21st century communication skills. What better way to showcase students' ability to comprehend and communicate, than with a Podcast? Students have a voice and they want to be heard. Through podcasting, kids are motivated to engage in productive conversation and creative thinking. I want students to understand that their voice does matter and there are exciting ways to acquire new knowledge and to showcase ones' thinking that go beyond the traditional classroom approaches of learning. I have seen the value of creating an environment where students have a variety of tools in which to express themselves. This podcast project will motivate my students to communicate and explore new and exciting ways of seeing the world by not only learning how to speak, but also to listen.
