The students I teach are from low-income, non-English speaking families. They attend a charter school with the mission of sending all its students to college. These students are driven to live up to their parents expectations but at the same time, they are surrounded by a crime-infested inner-city neighborhood. The more hands-on and fun we make school, the more students we will reach and the more lives we will save. At our school, every 12th grader takes physics; it is required. Bridge-building is something that can literally and figuratively build bridges between the students and make them enjoy science.
